JT Thomas
JT Thomas (they/them) graduated with a B.A. in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies from the Pennsylvania State University in 2024 (summa cum laude). Their research interests mainly revolve around Greek tragedy and the reception of the Classics, as well as the modulation of gender and sexuality in the ancient world, specifically instances of gender and sexual diverse, non-normative expression. Their undergraduate honors thesis, Beyond the Hero: Depictions of Liminal Masculinity in Classical Greek Theater, serves as a survey and reexamination of characters (such as Tiresias, Hippolytus, and Dionysus) in Classical Greek theater who, by their actions, dialogue, and perceived performance, exist on the fringes of traditional masculine norms or who might defy the masculine/feminine binary that has been beaten into ancient Greek society and our own. Outside of academia, JT enjoys belting out show tunes, writing queer romances, catching Pokémon, playing D&D, and rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Lord of the Rings (the extended editions, obviously), and various pieces of Star Wars media.
