The Department of Classics at UCLA is pleased to announce the Palevsky Scholarship in the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Classics for 2026-2027. We are offering a one-year tuition scholarship for our post-baccalaureate program for the academic year 2026-27, designed to benefit a promising candidate for graduate work who needs an extra year of preparation in the ancient languages before applying to graduate programs in Classical Studies.  Members of groups who contribute to the University’s diversity—including members of groups that have been historically and are presently underrepresented in the academy (e.g., racial and ethnic minorities and individuals from low-income backgrounds) are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should have completed a bachelor’s program or equivalent in Classics or a related field and must be legally authorized to work/study in the United States at the time of submitting the application.

Interested candidates should submit at their earliest convenience (1) a letter of application for the scholarship to (2) a resume/CV to Classics post-baccalaureate advisor Professor Lydia Spielberg (lspielberg@ucla.edu). The letter of application for the scholarship should lay out the circumstances that make them a good candidate for the scholarship and outline their plans for future graduate study in Classical Studies. Candidates for the scholarship must also have separately submitted a complete application to our post-baccalaureate program through UCLA Extension (https://www.uclaextension.edu/languages/languages/certificate/post-baccalaureate-program-classics). Candidates who have already applied to the post-baccalaureate program should submit only items (1) and (2). The deadline is June 15th, 2026.
